The Great Backyard Bird Count, Day 4 (Feb. 18, 2008)

Published by at 8:12 pm under bird watching, nature

Today, the last day of the GBBC, was a rainy, balmy President’s Day and from our vantage points, it looked like many of the local birds decided to stay dry. The sun started to peek out around mid-afternoon. It was a slow day for birding, so, not much to report.

Here is today’s tally:

All told, it was a successful GBBC weekend. However, I was disappointed not to see any Black-capped Chickadees or Tufted Titmice, as well as nothing out of the ordinary. Well, there’s always next year.

Your blog got me out of the house to fill my tower of feeders, too bad I was sick for the weekend, we could have drawn more birds to the area.

Wait until the other neighbors take down that large Rhodendrum bush, that has a few nests and offers cover as for our winged friends as they go back and forth between feeders, our numbers will go down then.

That’s why you need to plant a tree or two in your back yard. ;)

  3. the neighbor says:

Yea, a rhodendrum bush 3 feet away from the one they are taking down :)
