With the cubby doors finally—and correctly—in place, it was time to prime whatever wasn’t touched. This included some trim, the main top shelf and any of the spackled and sanded areas in the nursery bedroom as well as the cubby doors in both bedrooms.
In addition to the priming yesterday, I applied a coat of wood [...]
The handyman finishes the closet project
0 Comments Published by paul June 27th, 2007 in Home improvementWe thought we were finished with the closets on Monday, but when I came home from work, I saw that the hinges to the cubby doors were on backward. The phone call to the handyman that evening was a little uncomfortable. But he was a good sport and came be Tuesday morning, I showed [...]
Is the number of backpackers in America declining?
0 Comments Published by paul June 27th, 2007 in Camping/Hiking, RecreationIs it true that the number of backpackers and hikers in America is declining? According to the Kitsap Sun, a Washington state-based newspaper, it is.
The article in Kitsap Sun asks what’s causing the decline. The author, Seabury Blair Jr., writes that the number of backpackers in the last decade has seriously declined, despite the fact [...]
As we’re only awaiting the placement of the cubby doors in the master bedroom, we spent the better part of this Sunday putting all the finishing touches in our bedroom so we could move back in.
Starting around 09:00, we touched up the walls that I spackled and sanded previously. Then we put together the closet [...]
Great progress was made by the end of week 2. A little diplomacy with our handymen on Wednesday was enough to turn the screws a bit and get some timely results. (Great guys, but the sense of urgency in semi-retired men was a bit lacking.) Is it taking longer than we expected and were told? [...]
As we hoped, a lot of work was done yesterday on the master bedroom closet. The shelf was added and most of the outer and inner trim was installed. All that’s needed is the finish work on the trim, the doors to the top shelves and to attach the main closet doors.
The handymen also started [...]
Made some good progress yesterday. The master bedroom closet was sanded, and the guest bedroom saw the addition of the overhead storage shelf and a good portion of the trim. I also primed the master bedroom closet when I came home from work.
I’ve also asked our handyman to concentrate on the master bedroom from this [...]
A new week, a new day and more progress on the closets. The project is not moving as fast as we had originally had hoped, but are not going to pressure our contractors. They are not master carpenters, but more semi-retired handymen. They are nice guys and we don’t want to make a stink, but [...]
A little permalink SEO on Blog de Puree
0 Comments Published by paul June 20th, 2007 in Internet, Online marketingI’ve decided to make a small search engine optimization (SEO) tweak on Blog de Puree. I changed the format of the web address (URL) for each page on our blog, from a numberic organizational format (http:www.kersteins.com/blogdepuree/post#123) to date and topic related format (http://www.kersteins.com/blogdepuree/2007/06/14/closet-refurb-day-3/)
The URLs are a bit longer, but the date and topic information will [...]
The gents drywalled, taped and mudded the inner walls of the closets today. Now things are starting to take shape. Again, more photos of the progress.
(The master bedroom closet walls.)
(The guest bedroom closet walls.)
You’ll note the holes in the flooring at this point. We can’t find an exact match of the flooring and we also [...]
