Great Backyard Bird Count – Monday results

The final day of the Great Backyard Bird Count has ended, and there wasn’t much to see today because I had to leave for work in the morning. Here’s the rundown of today’s flying guests in the hour’s worth of viewing time I did get.

Herring Gull – 2
Blue Jay – 1
Dark-eyed Junco – 6
Northern Cardinal – 2
House Sparrow – 7

Here’s a list of the top 10 sighted birds in Massachusetts over the last four days.

Dark-eyed Junco – 3,597
Canada Goose – 3,391
American Goldfinch – 2,502
Mourning Dove – 1,948
House Sparrow – 1,768
Mallard Duck – 1,785
Black-capped Chickadee – 1,622
Blue Jay – 1,520
European Starling – 1,519
Ring-billed Gull – 1,337

Additionally, 140 different bird species were sighted in the state. And most importantly, there were 906 Tufted Titmice sighted during the 2007 GBBC.
