Kitchen – Week 6, day 2

Published by at 8:45 pm under The new kitchen

There was no spectacular progress today that can be noted. The guys fixed some nagging fit and hinge issues with the cabinets, reviewed how things would fit together with Randye and shored up some of yesterday’s work.

We also discussed the issue of the bathroom floor with the contractors. It seems there’s a bit of a height discrepancy from the bathroom floor to the hall floor. To rip up and replace the bathroom floor, including unhooking the radiator, toilet and vanity, would be a day’s worth of work and cost us another $500, so it’s currentlly being debated. The upside is that we would have a matching floor from the hall to the kitchen. There really is no downside, other than being out another $500.

Here’s a shot of the eastern wall in the kitchen, with our new window and some new cabinets.

Are you also redoing the bathroom? If so, WOW!!

No redoing the bathroom — at least not yet! We just wanted the flooring to go from the kitchen through the little back hall and continue into the bathroom so it all flowed. But for the extra cost, not sure it’s worth doing at this point.

But it could be an excellent winter DIY project for us. ;)
