Kitchen – Week 5, day 4
It was absolutely nuts today, but in a good way.
To start, the plumber came by because he had some free time and attached the heating pipes to the existing radiators so we could have heat. Eventually he’ll attach the new radiator and pipes, but we’re good for now. He came by because he had free time! Amesbury residents need a plumber reference? Call me.
Later in the morning, Yale Appliance came by with our refrigerator, range and dishwasher. And man o’ man, do they look good! Then, later in the day, Yale called to check to see that everything was okay, and if we should have a problem to call them to replace the appliances. And that’s why they’ve been voted Best of Boston for 2005 and 2006.
Then the cabinets came after lunch. There are boxes everywhere after having to help the delivery guy bring them into the house. Schmuck didn’t come with an assistant.
The final errand on the day was going to Universal Stone in Seabrook, NH. Here’s the long and short of that. When Randye first got a price quote, they told us that they were out of certain styles, so we went to the store to choose some we liked. Some guy told us that our selections were in stock at that time, but when we called to order our number one choice a couple weeks later, we were told that our top choice was out of stock and that it was likely that number two was not available either. Which brings me to today. So we go to the store and make a few selections that we like, but aren’t sure about a couple things. The guy tells us that they have other patterns at the Ipswich location, a mere 20 minutes later, so off we go. When we arrive, we inquire about this, that and the other in regard to certain granite types. Turns out, someone changed their mind on a granite choice at the last minute and there’s a slab and a half left of our first choice. Lucky day! We reserved both slabs and Randye will call to make the order and finalize the template appointment next Friday. Oh, in case you didn’t know, it’s gorgeous stone–with golds, creams, cinnamon and specks of jade throughout to add some cool colors to the mix.
Here’s what our house looks like now.
